To Bean Or Not To Bean...

Green Beans!  We love green beans.  I have 3 amazing recipes for you to try and they are all delicious!  First up:

The Classic Green Bean

You always, always, always buy Allen's Green Beans, seasoned or not, but they have to be Allen's.  Period.  No discussion.  They are the best!

Take your Allen's green beans, drain and rinse them and put them in a pot.  For every can of green beans add one chicken buillon cube.  Cook the beans on high 'til all the water cooks out.  Watch this carefully!  It's easy to cook out the water and then let them burn.  These green beans are a family favorite, my kids prefer these, and we've been eating them this way since I was little.  It's actually a Weight Watchers recipe, no fat!  Woohoo!  And they're super yummy.


The Country Green Bean

These are so good, you'll slap your mamma if she tries to get a bite off your plate.  My boys actually don't like them.  I know, I know, I haven't raised them right.  Such a slacker...

Take your green beans (what kind?  Allen's!) and drain and rinse.  Put them in the crock pot.  Add a little water and a few tablespoons, give or take, of bacon grease.  This is a great recipe for cooking A LOT or a little, just put as many cans as you want and lots of bacon grease and a little water in the crock pot.  Cook on low about 6 hours or until they smell so good you can't stand it anymore and are eating them out of the pot.  Eat and enjoy!!


I totally consider myself a "country cook" but this is The Green Bean of All Green Beans! 

Feta Green Beans With Dill


This is a Publix Apron's recipe.  I love how Publix cooks for you and you get to try the recipe right then and decide if you like it.  This is a keeper!  I've never had green beans like this, they will blow you away!




You will need:

1 (12-oz) bag microwavable fresh green beans
3-5 sprigs fresh dill, finely chopped
2 oz feta cheese
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup Greek vinaigrette

Steps:
1. Microwave beans in bag on HIGH 4-5 minutes until tender.  Chop dill (2 tablespoons); place in medium bowl.  Chop feta coarsely or crumble while adding to dill.
2. Remove beans from packaging and immediately plunge into cold water to stop the cooking process; drain and pat dry.
3. Add beans to dill and feta; stir in pepper and dressing.  Chill until ready to serve.  Stir once before serving.

Cold green beans?  Yes!  And I know, it's not Allen's, just this ONE TIME, you can use a different brand.  These are really delicious.  I think they'd also be great to take somewhere when you need to bring a dish.
