Perfect Toes

Beautiful toes are always in style!

Start with clean nails and push your cuticles back.

Use cuticle nippers and trim the excess cuticle.  Be patient!

Trim your nails back.  Always trim toenails straight across to avoid ingrown nails.  Just checking, did you hear that part?  Straight across.  Do not pass go, do not collect $200, do not cut those corners off!

Shape your nails with a file.

I always like to gently buff the surface of the nails for smooth polish application.

Dust the nails clean and apply OPI Chip Skip to the nails.

Use toe dividers if necessary and apply base coat.  I use Seche Vite ridge filling base coat.  Base coats are important because they help your polish stay on longer, they make your polish smoother, makes it easier to remove your polish, and keeps your nails from staining (as bad as it would have been without a base coat.)

Apply 2 coats color and clean up any imperfections as you go.

Apply your top coat.  I prefer Seche Vite, you can buy this at Sally's.  It dries fast and has a great shine.

And voila!  You have fabulous, beautiful nails!  Let them dry for about an hour.  I recommend waiting 2 hours before putting on socks and shoes.

You can achieve Perfect Polish!

You can achieve perfect nails right at home!

I hear all the time about women getting manicures and pedicures and the polish chips after a few days.  This doesn't have to happen.

First, it's important to remember that fingernails are an accessory, not a tool.

Nails are decorative, not functional.  No scraping, slicing, scrubbing.  Wear gloves and use the proper tool for household tasks.

Seche Vite is THE BEST polish for your nails.  Start with clean, manicured nails and apply Seche Base.  Apply polish carefully to your nails only and don't let any get on your cuticles.

Apply 2 coats of color, and then use Seche Vite for your top coat.  It has great shine and dries fast.

Always allow plenty of time for your nails to dry.

When polishing toes, be prepared to wear open toed shoes for a couple of hours.  No need to chance getting a big sock print on your fabulous polish!  Or sheet imprints, eeuuww...

Seche Vite is available at Steel Magnolias.
